As snow continues to gently fall on the San Juan mountains, the greenery revealing itself on the trees and town below are absolutely breathtaking. The later part of spring where the colors start to emerge is my favorite time of year in the Colorado mountains. Warm, sunny days are mixed in with that elusive spring snow. Not everyone likes to see the white moisture at this time of year, but I like to think it is only going to make for a greener and more beautiful summer.
Typically an above-average snowfall correlates to healthier rivers and lakes, as well as greener landscapes. Telluride boasts an incredibly dramatic landscape as it is. A touch of snowcapped mountains heading into summer is truly what makes for this picturesque mountain town.
As we head into Memorial Day weekend, locals and visitors alike are anticipating the popular summer activities like hiking, biking, golfing, fishing and the mountain culture events. Featured Event:
Mountain Village will host Telluride Reserve, a new food and wine event set for Aug. 15-18. Small groups of guests will be able to wine, dine and interact with a diverse collection of award-winning chefs, winemakers and culinary influencers—set within Mountain Village private homes and venues like Allred’s, Telluride’s flagship restaurant—with no giant tents in sight.
Telluride Bike Park:
Through Telluride’s million-dollar investment, the new Telluride Bike Park will showcase miles of gravity-fed flow trails, smooth sweeping turns on a rain-absorbent surface and arching bridges. Camps and guides are also offered for riders of all abilities and age groups. The bike park is set to open June 2019.
Commercial Flights at TEX:
For the first time in its history, Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) will offer commercial jet service. Denver Air Connection launched daily flights on the 30-seat jet from Denver (DEN) to TEX on May 15, 2019. The flights will operate year-round.
