5 great Apres Ski spots in Telluride

March 28, 2016

Telluride has a great apres ski scene in the historic district that used to serve drinks to the tired miners. Today those old Victorian houses serve drinks and food to the tired skiers and snowboarders who enjoyed a day on the slopes.

Here's five spots that should not be missed, as described by each in their own words.

New Sheridan Bar

The town's oldest tavern, the Historic New Sheridan Bar, has a carved mahogany bar, room dividers with beveled and lead glass panels, and light fixtures and brass chandeliers dating from the original in 1895 with additions from the 1930s. Located inside the New Sheridan Hotel, located at 231 West Colorado Avenue (Main Street).

Last Dollar Saloon (The Buck)

The Last Dollar Saloon, known affectionately for over three decades by Telluride locals as "The Buck" can be found at the southeast corner of Main Street (Colorado Avenue) and Pine Street. Now in its 35th year of consecutive operation, a capable stable of Telluride's most experienced bartenders continue the great traditions that have made the Last Dollar Saloon the favorite "cocktail time" destination for Telluride residents and visitors.

The Oak

Telluride has come a long way from its history as a boisterous mining town. Nowhere is this transformation more apparent than Oak...The New Fat Alley. Ski in from Telluride Trail after a day of powder.  Hike in off of the River Trail. Take the free scenic Gondola from the town of Mountain Village. Casually stroll down Oak Street. Then sit inside or outside and enjoy one of Telluride's finest restaurants.

Tomboy Tavern

Tomboy Tavern features a wraparound bar, oversized leather couches, and a big screen television for game day. It also boasts the best beer garden and patio in Mountain Village, a popular local apres-ski spot. The classically American and Colorado menu has dishes that are sure to please the whole group for lunch and dinner.

Gorrono Ranch

Gorrono Ranch is located at the Telluride Ski Resort under the main lift, Village Express (4). The restaurant serves all-American favorites in a traditional mountain lodge with plenty of outdoor seating. Gorrono's also features a smokehouse with unbeatable barbeque and a lively bar scene with live music.
