Ajax Peak overlooking downtown Telluride this season has been stacked upon stacked with layers of weak snow, heavy snow and everything in between.
So it was high time to drop some bombs from a helicopter to try to trigger an avalanche under controlled conditions rather than waiting for one to happen on its own.
The video that came out of the avalanche is nothing short of amazing. Cheers can be heard as the slide begins, and you'll want to cheer, as well, for the person who took this amazing video.
