Fourth of July in Telluride

July 3, 2019

Celebrating Fourth of July in Telluride should be on your summer bucket list.  With a hometown parade in the heart of downtown, outdoor activities, family events, free concert, and then the stunning fireworks.  All among the mountain backdrop that makes Telluride so special.

There really is nothing quite like Fourth of July in this beautiful mountain town.  Start Independence Day out with a local’s favorite tradition by participating in the Rundola Race.  Run, hike or crawl from the base of the gondola to the top of Telluride’s lift 7.  Runners and hikers will climb up the Telluride Trail (4,600 feet long, 40 feet wide with a 13% grade), or just bushwhack to the top of the gondola.  There is an elevation gain of 1,810 feet.  The run will start at 8 a.m. and the finish line will close at 10 a.m.  Runners should walk back to Telluride or Mountain Village after the race.  Kids Hill starts at 8:30 a.m.  It is the most beautiful race and way to start off the holiday!

After you’ve had your workout, kick back at Telluride’s annual Fourth of July Celebration and parade on Main Street at 11 a.m.  There will be the parade right downtown, followed by fireman’s picnic in the park with games and events.  Enjoy being part of this hometown celebration where kids and adults will all love the festivities.

Enjoy a two-day event in the Mountain Village called Red, Whites & Blues Concert.  Family-friendly activities and two days’ worth of live music starting on July 3rd and goes into the afternoon/evening of July 4th.  Music and fun will fill your soul.  Cap off the night with an incredible fireworks display illuminating the mountain sky.  If you can’t make the celebration this year, be sure to visit Telluride next year as this annual tradition will continue.
