President's Day in Telluride

January 22, 2018

As President's Day looms closer and closer in Telluride, the resort and the town ramp up for another exciting ski-getaway holiday. More and more terrain continues to open on the resort, promising great skiing for any visitor and epic views as well. But what activities are there to engage in besides the skiing? Well to start the month of Febuary off is of course the Art Walk, hosted on the first thursday of each month. This month it will be on the 1st, so be ready to celebrate the arts in downtown Telluride. The Art Walk is a celebration of art from 5pm to 8pm at over twenty venues showcasing all their new exhibitions and artists. The Art Walk is a self-guided tour through town, keep an eye out for the flags to know where to go. Most venues that host the Art Walk also offer a Gallery Guide to accompany, as well as some delicious foods and wine to go along with the gallery.

Mardi Gras is of course February 11, so get out your crazy masks, beads, and feathers ready! Head for the Telluride Conference Center for the 23nd Annual Chocolate Lovers' Fling as guests will savor an array of chocolate creations from local chefs as they dance the night away. The best dressed will win cash prizes so this is not a dance party that you'll want to miss. The San Miguel Resource Center is hosting it again this year, and is helping to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault in our community through intervention services, prevention education and social change. So this year, dance for a good cause.

From Febuary 15th to the 19th enjoy a weekend full of laughs. The 19th Annual Comedy Festival keeps a very local feel while remaining an absolute world class event. Comedians from all over come to our little town to perform right here at Telluride's Sheridan Opera House and tickets range from $30 to $125. Big names will be attending this year's festival such as Nick Kroll from The League and Ed Helms from The Office and The Hangover.

And to finish off the month, February 24th to March 3rd is Telluride's "Gay Ski Week", originally founded in 2002 and is all about having fun for locals and participants alike. With an opening-day party, daily après ski, pool parties, late-night lounge happenings, with events extending well into the morning hours, including the signature White Party and much more, this week is packed to the brim with excitement for everyone.
