Relaxing Activities in Telluride

May 10, 2019

According to a survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research (link below), the thing Americans most want to do on vacation is… nothing. The study found that several people like to relax on their vacations and enjoy the change of scenery! If this is you, find out what Telluride has to offer for your next mountain getaway.

1. Massage
Massage can be beneficial for men and women. It is a great way to relax your body from a day on the slopes, traveling, or everyday stresses. There are several spas in which you can find these talented masseuses such as at PURE Beauty and Wellness, The Peaks, The Madeline, and Aroma Spa. At these locations you can even follow up your incredible massage with a pampering of hair-do, nails, or skin.

2. Yoga
Telluride loves yoga and even holds an annual Yoga Festival every summer. This winter, find classes at Mangala Yoga in the Town of Telluride or with the Telluride Yoga Center and their new location at The Madeline Hotel in Mountain Village. Yoga focuses on the connection of mind and body through movement and is accepting of all abilities and styles. Find the class most fitting for you with one of Telluride’s most dedicated yogis.

3. Salt Cave
Salt Caves are one of the most unique experiences to have in Telluride and have been occupying our town since the early days. (The first was beneath our very own Sheridan Opera House!). Today, you can find a Salt Cave at PURE Beauty and Wellness. By absorbing the Himalayan salt through breath and skin, you trigger an anti-inflammatory response in your body which improves your overall respiratory and skin health in a natural way.

4. Soft Music
For a relaxing evening out, enjoy food and soft music at one of Telluride's most prized restaurants. The Phoenix Bean is located in one of the oldest buildings on main street. Once named the Phoenix Market, this building has been transformed from a miner's food market, to an elegant coffee shop and restaurant. Enjoy a nice cup of your favorite brew, a cocktail, or some food while listening to live jazz music. Similarly, the bar at Allred's restaurant offers savory appetizers, stunning mountain top views, and live music by two talented, local artists. Be entertained by a smooth, acoustic guitar set by Donovan on Mondays and Tuesdays or a delicate piano set by Bob Wednesdays through Sundays.
