Thanksgiving is extra special in Telluride because it is also opening day for the ski slopes. On Thursday, November 25, visitors can finally return to the slopes! While the skiable areas tend to be limited, there is plenty of territory to cover. Plus, you'll have the honor of being able to say you were one of the first to hit the snow in Telluride! Hit the slopes all day and then enjoy Thanksgiving dinner in the evening. 

Smaller crowds than normal mean that you'll have an easier time getting a table at Telluride's favorite restaurants and apres ski spots during Thanksgiving week. Reservations are a breeze. You can live your foodie dreams and visit all of Telluride's top-notch dining establishments! OpenTable has a list of many of the restaurants currently taking reservations, but there are also many unlisted!

Telluride has many Thanksgiving traditions that you can partake in. For instance, there's Turkey Bingo, a fabulously fun annual tradition where people compete to win turkeys. There's bingo, beer, and turkey. It's incredibly popular, so seats always fill up. 

After Thanksgiving, hit up the shops in Downtown Telluride and Mountain Village and knock out some of your holiday shopping. There are plenty of unique gifts to purchase from the many wonderful local stores. You can also check out the the Telluride Arts Holiday Bazaar December 3 through 5.
