Telluride is world known for its challenging ski terrain, amazing powder and blue skies. But in the summer this winter paradise turns into the most amazing concert spot in the country. The beautifu box canyon of Telluride hosts various music festivals throughout the summer attracting concert goers from around the world to this magical mountain town. Make sure to go to at least one if these summer music events:
June 16-19 Telluride Bluegrass Festival
The 43rd Annual Telluride Bluegrass is held the weekend closest to the Summer Solstice, which marks the begining of summer in Colorado. The festival is a weekend celebration of Americana roots music where artists are encouraged to push the limits of their genre. Dave Rawlings Machine, Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, John Prine, Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush Band and Ryan Adams are just some of the names performing at this year's festival.
July 9-10 Ride Festival
In four years the Ride Festival has quickly gained a reputation for handpicking rootsy, rocking talent that compliments the hosting town of Telluride. Featured artists this year include Pearl Jam, Cage the elephant, The Temperance Movement, The Sheepdogs, Radio Moscow, Big Something and many more.
August 5-7 Telluride Jazz Festival
Telluride Jazz Festival ranks among the world’s most memorable music festivals. It has earned national and international attention for featuring the best in classic, mainstream, blues, African, Cajun, and Latin jazz music. Performances take place on two outdoor stages during the day and in historic theaters and clubs at night.
August 11-21 Telluride Chamber Music Festival
The Telluride Chamber Music Festival has been bringing chamber music to the box canyon for 43 years.The festival showcases the finest in chamber music by performing some of the classic greats. Participating musicians have been Roy Malan, Susan Freier, Nance Ellis, Polly Malan, Ian Scarfe, Jeffrey LaDeur, Stephen Harrison, Allan Glassman, and Larry London.
September 16-18 Telluride Blues & Brews Festival
The 23rd annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival offers a memorable weekend of live music and free-flowing beer. Most of the shows are performed on the Main Stage in Telluride's Town Park. The Grand Beer Tasting held on Saturday showcases more than 50 microbreweries and over 150 different beers. As the sun goes down acts from earlier in the day play intimate late night performances at smaller venues around the town of Telluride and Mountain Village.
